Electricity Costs Commission Ready to Report to Godwin

The Electricity Costs Commission in Virginia, created to study rising power costs, will present a 242 page report with more than 30 recommendations to Gov. Mills Godwin. Mathews Nominated to Head HEW

Dr. F David Mathews 39 year old president of the University of Alabama nominated as secretary of health education and welfare says this post is a difficult assignment and must be Senate confirmed. He would replace Caspar Weinberger who resigned to care for his wife and might seek California politics. Mathews plans to seek a leave of absence from UA and notes his Alabama roots and public service roles with Bicentennial Commission and refugee advisory committee.

Queen Elizabeth II to make state visit to United States in 1976
