Dr. Joseph A. Pearce reported to the American Astronomical Society that two ninth magnitude stars in Cygnus race around each other at over 1,500,000 miles an hour. They are about 11.5 million miles apart and complete a circuit in under two days, with temperatures near 60,000 degrees and masses 38 and 327 times that of the sun.
High school graduations rise this June with about 1,186,000 leaving high schools and 315,000 in college commencements. Only about 40 percent of male high school seniors plan to attend college versus 47 percent in 1950, while jobs and military drafts affect choices. Corporations seek science and engineering majors, offering up to 350 dollars monthly plus fringe benefits, as the armed forces call for trained personnel. The class size is similar to last year with about 184,000 college graduates and 70,000 fewer than the prior year.

The Young Adult Class of Rest Sunday School held a party at Morgan Park Bunker Hill on Wednesday evening. A Bible School recognition service was conducted by Rev CE Burkett. North Frederick Charge pupils performed at White Hall church. The third quarterly conference met Sunday evening at Chestnut Grove Methodist Church.
Rest Church members assisted the Clearbrook Fire Company with the yard party this week. Several local residents and visitors from Damascus and Martinsburg visited relatives here over the weekend. Holmes Whitacre is ill, and many from the community attended Mrs. Virginia Ashwood’s funeral in Winchester Monday.
Bernell Hill a Clover Hill church layman will speak at Fairview and Stephens City Methodist Churches on Sunday July 6. He will address Fairview at 9 45 a m and Stephens City at 11 a m with Fred Gore in charge at Fairview and A R Marks introducing at Stephens City.
