Freight Locomotive Explosion Causes Cape Codder Wreck
Three railroad workers died when a freight locomotive exploded near Kingston Rhode Island. The blast sent wreckage onto tracks used by the Cape Codder which crashed into the debris injuring several passengers. The freight boiler landed in a swamp and the cause remains undetermined.

Fence Restored After Trees Fell Ends Dearmont Suit
Justice Tavenner in Clarke County magistrate court dismissed William E Dearmont versus Purcell McKee over damages to a four strand barbed wire fence between adjoining Clarke county farms. McKee repaired the fence making it as good as before the trees fell. Dearmont gave notice of appeal.

Bucktails Soldier George F. Arnold Dies in West Virginia
Parkerburg, W Va June 26 George F Arnold 78 died at Belleville from infirmities. A Union Army veteran of the Bucktails he was captured at Winchester and confined in Libby Prison ten months. He reenlisted in Company D Thirteenth West Virginia and served to war end. He is survived by his widow two sons and a daughter and was a member of the Odd Fellows.

John H. Thompson Dies Sudden at Front Royal
John Henry Thompson, a 63 year old plasterer, died at his Front Royal home after a brain paralysis stroke. Born July 25, 1863 in Winchester, he is survived by his second wife Mollie, two daughters, a son Frank, four sisters, one brother, and funeral services set for Monday at 10 am in Front Royal before interment in Mount Hebron.

Brothers Held For Court After Mash Found
Elmer Williams and Norman Williams, brothers from west of Middletown, were held in 500 bail each in the county magistrate's court by Justice Tavenn er after a search revealed a barrel and a wash tub filled with alleged mash in a room at their home. They must appear at the first day of the October term of the Circuit Court to answer the charge. Sheriff Pannett and Deputy Wigginton found the mash under a bed where two newborn twins slept. due to illness neither could meet bail, so they were released on their own recognizance for trial.
