At the 49th Governors Conference in Williamsburg Eisenhower urged a joint federal state task force to study returning some programs to state control. Govs McKeldin and Dwinell signaled potential gains, while Hariman and Williams criticized the plan as insufficiently concrete.
Mrs Zelma G Hyatt pleaded guilty to two counts of embezzling public funds totaling 4468 56. The case was continued to July 3 for pre sentence report. Allen W Gaunt, ex Northern Virginia Power Co employee, appeared on embezzlement charges totaling 3502 80 and requested time to obtain counsel. Both cases arose from indictments by a special grand jury.
