Speight Killed by Posse After Six Hour Barn Fight
In West Virginia near Martinsburg, state constabulary and a crowd killed 60 year old G E G Speight after a six hour battle at his barn on the Morgan Berkeley county line. Drowning at Lost River Claims Lumber Camp Worker
Charles Barb, 18 or 19, of near Orkney Springs Virginia, drowned in Lost River at McCauley Hardy County West Virginia while rowing a small boat with two companions. The craft capsized in swift water. Barb did not survive though his companions and others attempted rescue. Barb worked at the Mealey works of Winchester Lumber Corporation. a prior drowning at the same plant site in McCauley was noted.
