Man given two years in county jail for drunken driving and assault

Tragedy in Houston as abducted man found dead
Robert Powell, 24, a Black man, was taken from Jefferson Davis Hospital by eight masked men. His body was found hanging from a bridge near Houston at 6 30 am with a head wound suggesting a pistol strike. Governor Moody sent four state rangers to assist in the investigation. Powell had been charged with killing city detective A W Davis during a gun battle the prior Sunday.
