Showboat Disaster Continues on Dragoon Creek
The tornado formed on the Dragoon Creek branch of the lake and met the Whippoorwill in the main channel. Lawrence Stadel, owner of Lighthouse Bay Marina, pulled two young men from beneath the craft as they clung to air pockets. Royal Elder of the Kansas Forestry Commission noted the boat, built in 1965 by locals and a Methodist minister, remains seaworthy despite canopy damage after rescue efforts.
