Government Loser In Noted Teapot Dome Oil Case

Teapot Dome leasing to Mammoth Oil and Sinclair was upheld by Judge T Blake Kennedy in Wyoming. The ruling cleared Roosevelt and others, including Rear Admiral Robison and Interior officials, of blame while affirming Fall’s secrecy and the Navy’s rights to store and manage naval oil reserves. The court discarded bank-exhibit lines and held no congressional consultation requirements. The ruling maintains government authority over oil reserves and ongoing secrecy pending Pearl Harbor storage leases.
