Lock Jaw Fatal to Colored Boy John Ford Jr
John Ford Jr a six year old colored boy died Saturday from lockjaw tetanus after a pitchfork wound to his foot. The injury occurred days earlier at the home of George Manuel a well known colored barber on North Kent Street who had taken him in to raise. The wound seemed minor but the boy grew sick and struggled to swallow before the physician diagnosed tetanus and he died after a few hours. The funeral was held at Old Chapel in Clarke County with the body interred there.
