Postmaster W Nelson Page returned from Richmond where he led the Virginia chapter executive committee. The Virginia chapter plans its annual convention at the Jefferson Hotel on July 15 with a full day program to be announced after final arrangements and guest acceptances are confirmed. The chapter reports strong membership growth and expects solid representation at the Richmond gathering.

Two men are beaten in a clash at Bethlehem's Cambria plant in Johnstown while a Canton picket, Stephen Mann, 19, is shot in the arm during movements at the Republic steel plant. Non-strikers slip into the Bethlehem facility as federal action looms and Gov. Davey and Mayor Shields press for intervention.
