Thieves Hit Three Winchester Businesses In One Night
Three Winchester businesses were burglarized last night with a small sum stolen from each. Buhl's Grocery on South Loudoun Street saw $8.15 taken from the cash register, plus an 1872 silver dollar. Funk's Pool Room on North Loudoun Street yielded $15 to $20 from the register and safe, both left unlocked. Scott Brown's Barber Shop on North Kent Street lost a pay telephone and a few dollars from the till. Police investigated but did not confirm arrests.

May Pay Bounty To Wheat Growers

Allen Horses Among Winners At Upperville
The forty third annual Upperville Colt and Horse Show closed after two days in rain showers with keen competition in yearling filly and colt classes and 2 year old thoroughbreds. Mrs D C Sands won the yearling filly, William Zeigler Jr the yearling colt, and Dr L M Allen with Doncliff won the 22 year old thoroughbred. Polydor owned by Mr Zeigler won the thoroughbred stallion class while Valorus owned by Mrs Whitney took second. In the large pony jumping class a tie was declared between Queen of Sheba owned by Stanley Green and Lady Peggy owned by J G Cunningham with Shirley Payne Jr riding. Salterello carried the jump to win the touch and out class after the height was raised to over five feet.
