An 82 aboard Cathay Pacific Convair 880 crashed in Vietnam's central highlands after aerial breakup. No survivors found. rescue teams and South Vietnamese soldiers secured the site near Cheo Reo. Earlier reports of a collision were dismissed as no second aircraft was found.
In New Delhi on Wednesday night a Japan Airlines jetliner crash killed 84, with 16 Americans among the dead. Six survived, none American. one Indian casualty reported. A farmer near the crash site was critically injured by burning wreckage.
President Nixon urged Congress to approve by Sept 1 a treaty with the Soviet Union limiting defensive strategic arms and a companion accord to curb offensive missiles. He spoke informally to 122 lawmakers with Henry Kissinger present as the White House hosted a rare briefing session on disarmament steps and October talks.

A county soil survey was authorized with discussions begun with the state soil conservation service and Virginia Tech. The precinct shifts include Back Creek District Gore and Kernstown to Greenwood Lamps lines and polling place moves at Schenck Foods Town Fire Hall Frederick Block Company Office. The next reading for the utility tax is June 28.
