Garden Clubs and Preservation of Virginia Arts Traditions
Julia Sully, president of the Woman's Club of Richmond, urges state wide action to preserve Virginia's art and landscape heritage. She traces Colonial portrait and architectural traditions, praises the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities and garden clubs, laments modern tasteless changes to trees and streets, and calls for a state wide Friends of the Trees society to protect ancient elms and planted avenues.
