At the state capitol a rules group delays a wage hour measure and a $3.753 billion lending spending bill. The measure backed by the CIO chief encounters resistance as lawmakers push for a cleanup during the day.
Washington scene reports the House approved the wage hour compromise with Senate action needed to send it to the White House. The rules committee blocked C I O leader John L Lewis backed legislation and warned it would not pass this session without a two thirds House vote, leaving adjournment looming and urgent efforts to finish remaining bills.
MA Winchester praises Future Farmers from Handley and neighboring counties for their record at the Blacksburg Virginia state rally. During the opening session several local members were elected to the Third or State Farmer Degree for outstanding project work. Projects are student led under faculty supervision on family farms with profits earned during the learning process.
Andrew A. Rahn of Zuhrah Temple Minneapolis rises to Imperial Potentate of the shrine in Los Angeles. He wears the 11,850 jewel diamond studded badge symbolizing the highest temple office.
New York June 14 A Episcopal rector refused to marry Andrea Luckenbach 18 heiress and William Dobbs 22 saying he would not wed couples of differing social and financial status. Commodore Edgar Luckenbach father questions the match though the mother plans a wedding reception. The couple planned a Long Island Sound wedding cruise aboard Lewis Luckenbach’s yacht.
Paris reports Generalissimo Francisco Franco has accepted a U S proposal for an exchange of American prisoners captured in the Spanish Civil War. Harold E Dahl of Champaign Illinois was not among those to be traded.

William Lowery a 25 year old farm laborer is recovering at Memorial Hospital from a flesh wound on the right side just above the hip. Deputy Sheriff Robert DeHaven said Lowery confessed the shot was personal safety related. William Stickley II found Lowery after the 6 o'clock incident and a note on the rifle directed that Lowerys wife and mother be notified.
Otis Sargent president urges Winchester Softball League members to play all scheduled games at the Star Fort diamond near Sunny Side on the Pugh Town pike. The change takes effect today.

Frank McCall pleaded guilty to kidnapping and murder counts in the capture of five year old victim at Princeton, while denying the accusation of killing him. A special grand jury returned indictments charging kidnapping for ransom and two counts of murder. Trial set for tomorrow if counsel is assigned and ready.

He says no right to possession exists and disputes ownership and rebuild duties, with defense to be made in court.

Coroner A Magruder MacDonald ordered an autopsy on Dr Beverley T Galloway 75 former assistant Secretary of Agriculture found in a wooded ravine. Police reported a bottle with a chemical mixture near the body when discovered last night. Friends say Galloway had been in ill health and disappeared yesterday.
A bill to regulate next year's wheat acreage was sent to President Roosevelt after Senate and House approval. The measure fixes 1939 acreage under crop control at not less than 55 million acres, down from about 179 million this year.

Berryville Virginia reports at noon six votes cast in a Democratic unopposed municipal election. Mayors candidate H B Harris leads, with L N Russell H B Whiting H L Scheuer and Dr Frank Tappan named for town council. Dr Tappan recently filled an unexpired term.
