Charles C Clark former Winchester police officer suffered severe head face and chest injuries when his motorcycle collided with a stationary truck near Stephens City. He was unconscious bleeding from multiple cuts and transported to Dr Andersons and later to his father's home with nurse assistance.
Miss Miylene Dettra daughter of City Manager L R Dettra died at home near Stephens City after two years of ill health aged about 27. Funeral at the Dettra residence Friday at 10 led by Elder J Carson Miller with interment at Salem Church cemetery. She was active in church and community work and left three brothers Paul, Carson, and Emmett Dettra and numerous relatives in Pennsylvania.
Voters show apathy with 130 ballots in First Ward and 470 in Second Ward out of more than 2,400 registered in Winchester. Captain Lewis F. Cooper wins the second ward race with 284 votes, while Fred A. Robinson nets 263 and J. George Baetjer 256. In the first ward no contest yields 130 votes total.
Cincinnati June 14 The miners prepared to meet operators of the Central competitive fields to discuss a settlement based on substantial tonnage. William Green secretary of the United Mine Workers said operators must control enough coal production to justify a wage agreement across the Central competitive fields. Green noted a conference was likely.
