Ratification Urged for United Nations Charter
President Truman wants Senate ratification of the United Nations charter for a world peace organization before recess. Officials say he told Congressional leaders action should come quickly after the San Francisco conference drafts a document for submission by the 50 nations. Delaying could aid opponents by enabling sentiment to grow against American participation. The White House stance largely rules out a summer break for lawmakers.
