German forces pushed toward Paris with Chalons Sur Marne captured and the Maginot defenses probed from the rear. Reports say the German high command claims advances east of Paris, with 100000 prisoners taken since the Paris offensive began on June 5, while allied material losses mount amid heavy bombardment.

The Rev George E Owen of Zalma Missouri died at 30 a m June 11 in Nuhn Hospital Puxico from a severe lung hemorrhage. He had pastorates in Virginia Pennsylvania and the Midwest. Survived by four sons Richard Ernest Paul Parsons Matthew and George and a daughter Mrs Russell Glass and a sister Miss Carsie Owen.
Conner Electric Appliances opens at 14 South Loudoun Street in Winchester tomorrow evening with refreshments and a grand prize. Luther T. Conner, owner manager and local native with 12 years in sales and repair, becomes sole Winchester representative for Crosley ranges and refrigerators and ABC washers. The store features a repair shop and a complete line of major electric appliances with service for all makes and models.
State Department sent semi annual reminders to European nations owed money from the last war. Finland and Sweden are in default but expected to pay as usual despite wartime acts and Russia.
New York New England and Midwestern states show lighter apple crops while Western states and Appalachia are heavier. National June condition 67 vs 69 last year. Appalachian area favored. Midwest states down about 15 percent, about 3 million bushels. New York State near last year. Rhode Island counts remain small with a large gap from New York’s total.
London June 13 Lord Marley a labor peer called in the House of Lords for arrests of one or two members he accused of German links. He praised the imprisonment of a presumed Gauleitier nominee for England and a Commons member slated for Scotland. A secret Lords session was set for next Tuesday. The fifth column hunt has already led to the arrest of Sir Oswald Mosley and Captain Archibald Ramsey among others.
Donna Dean an 18 year old Washington girl who often visited Winchester died in Georgetown Hospital Washington D C from injuries sustained in a car wreck Monday on the Rockville Pike. She was an actress in the Roadside Theatre near Rockville Md and had a role in The Sealed Well. She would have been 19 June 26 and was the daughter of Col Warren S Dean.
The Senate Labor Committee votes unanimously to defer decisions on House approved labor act amendments until definite adjournment dates are known. Chairman Thomas notes the aim to determine by next Tuesday if a national labor amending program will proceed. Debate includes charges against President Roosevelt and calls to follow the defense tax bill with revenue law revision.
In Berryville on June 13 the Woman's Club of Clarke County held its annual flower show in the Community building featuring 25 exhibit classes. Exhibitors received multiple blue ribbons with several earning two awards. judges came from Front Royal Charles Town and Berryville. Notable ribbonists include Miss Lucy Allen Mrs John D Richardson Mrs Joseph F Moore and others with top honors in children and men's classes awarded to Lewis Rica more Jimmy Berlin and William B. Clagett respectively.
Timber Ridge Congregational Christian Church in High View West Virginia will host its annual memorial and homecoming service on Sunday June 16 announced by Rev. Robert A. Whitten. The 125 year old church with a brick building erected in 1875 has upgraded interiors and pews funded by subscribers. Nearly 300 members and friends from Hampshire County include county leaders in agriculture business and professions. Invited guests will bring baskets for a day of music and speakers including Rev. L E Huber missionary to Africa.
Five people are dead after a bombing in the Lausanne and Geneva areas. One more person who was injured in Geneva died today, raising the total fatalities to five.
A pill form immunizing against scarlet fever was announced by Dr George F. Dick and Gladys Henry Dick. Trials on 102 people showed 94 percent immunization with transient rashes. Not a general substitute, it is advised for high risk or urgent epidemic use.
Frederick county's public school administration loses two leading figures as J Fred Thwaite and Ray Robinson resign from their chairmanships. Robinson sent his to Judge Philip Williams and Thwaite handed his to Leslie D. Kline for transmission to School Trustee Board members. Robinson offered no comment, calling for the matter to rest there.
The State Employment Service lists 17 000 job types and includes a brief definition for strip tease dancer. Alternate names include peeler strip teaser stripper and teaser. The entry notes the dancer walks the stage with music and gradually removes clothing and may also sing.
London reports Cripps may meet Molotov in Moscow as Italy joins the war. Attlee deflects timing of Churchill's next wartime statement. Turkey calls up more troops. Moyale in Kenya raided. health measures consider mandatory civilian evacuations in Britain.
