Murder charges dismissed in Waddill death case

A judge dismissed murder charges against Dr. William Waddill after a jury deadlocked at 11-1 for acquittal in a second trial over the death of a baby who survived a saline abortion. Evacuated Patients Return as Floods Ease in Newport News

Heavy rains flooding Denbigh in Newport News forced evacuation of 112 nursing home patients from Patrick Henry Hospital to chapel areas. About four feet of water flooded streets. Fort Eustis soldiers built a temporary dam. By noon the situation eased and patients began returning to quarters.
