Farmer Killed By Oak Log at Barn Raising
John R. Coffman aged 62 was crushed to death near Bridgewater while assisting a barn-raising on Luther Hollen’s farm. A 27 foot oak beam slipped, crushing his hip and fracturing his leg, then rebounding to strike his head. He leaves seven children and was a Church of the Brethren member.
