Blacksmith George Seeley Seeks Niche in Frederick Craft Scene
Maryland transplant George Seeley, 25, has set up a blacksmith shop in a two story garage on Rt. 50 after leaving architectural design work in Baltimore. He and his wife Mary moved three months ago and aim to establish a business here, selling fireplace sets, hooks, forks, chandeliers, and ram s head pieces at craft shows including Belle Grove Farm Craft Days on July 9 and 10. Seeley hammers hot metal at 2,400 degrees to craft unique touches into functional pieces, balancing artistry with practicality while pursuing ongoing shows and local demand for historic hardware. He plans to focus on a local shop presence but will continue exhibiting at craft fairs to build clientele.
