President Coolidge honors Col Charles A Lindbergh with the Distinguished Flying Cross as crowds cheer along a triumphal route to the White House. Lindbergh, praised for self restraint and unsullied fame, returns from his air voyage amid receptions and adulation.
Charles A. Lindbergh was greeted by cheering crowds along Pennsylvania avenue as he returned from Europe aboard the Memphis. He wore civilian clothes and rode with his mother in a motorcade, receiving a new Distinguished Flying Cross from President Coolidge at the Washington monument. The procession drew tens of thousands, with further public appearances at the White House balcony and formal induction into America's immortals.
Godfrey Miller Cooper, a longtime Winchester housepainter, died at 2.15 PM in his room at the Fairfax Hotel from a stroke. He was about 49, survived by family and attending nurses, with funeral arrangements to be announced. Cooper had deep ties to Christ Church and local service groups.

The Berryville avenue grounds host Oliver's Exhibition Shows for the Firmen's Welfare Association with crowds from Winchester and the surrounding country. A nightly Guthrie's free show features slack wire and trapeze acts, drawing many visitors to the pleasant carnival grounds that benefit the firemen's association.
Jacob A Leidig 72 a longtime farmer of Vaucluse Frederick county died in a Chambersburg Pennsylvania hospital. The funeral is set for 2 30 pm Monday from his home and burial will follow in the local cemetery. He was a native of Franklin county and survived by three sisters and one brother with his parents having died earlier.
East Clifford Street resident Joseph Steele III is seriously ill at home after a paralysis stroke nearly a week ago. His last surviving relative is grand-niece Miss Mary Kurtz, a nurse at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
Paris dispatch reports a boycott urged against Chamberlin and Levine after their Berlin landing. Berlin says the pair are illegal travelers in Europe, lacking papers, while Chamberlin notes no passport and no desire for one. Levine and Chamberlin deny tobacco use despite gift cigars.
