Irvine Price of Berryville graded Clarke county wool as one of the best since before the war. Despite fewer sheep, total tonnage exceeded 2 000 pounds over 1946. Most fleeces were clean and tied with paper twine, with about 12 black fleeces and some wool pulled from dead sheep. J W Olcott said consignments would go to the National Wool Marketing Corporation in Massachusetts.
