Compromise rules agreed for Democrats Senate nominating
Eight candidates sign a compromise for the Virginia Democratic convention in Williamsburg to select a U S Senate nominee. The plan keeps each candidate in through at least four roll calls and requires a 1 399 vote majority of 2 797. The rules exclude a 5 percent first roll threshold and remove the lowest candidate on the fourth roll if needed. The winner faces Republican Richard Obenshain in November.
