Scott Named For Republican Race in 8th
William L. Scott of Fairfax won the Republican nomination at a district GOP convention described as a middle ground between Democratic rivals. Scott secured 28 votes from Fairfax and needed eight more to clinch the nomination. The convention also urged I. Lee Potter to consider running for the U S Senate. Potter spoke at the event and weighed the decision. Scott previously lost a State Senate race by 21 votes, then won on election night but a court recount gave the seat to Adelard L. Brault.
