Heavily armed police and troops clashed with moslem mobs in Tehran calling for the Shah's overthrow. Rioters set fires, damaged property near Tehran University and the royal palace area, while security officials blamed reactionary forces for instigating the unrest.
A four ounce egg laid yesterday by Mrs. Norma Richard's Rhode Island Red hen on Front Royal Road surpasses typical weights. The egg measures six and a half inches around the short axis and eight and a half inches around the long axis. ROUSS Fire Co. meets Thursday June 6 at 7 30 p.m.
Frederick County Schools close the 1962-63 session as James Wood High School seniors prepare to receive diplomas tonight on the athletic field. The processional Trumpet Tune opens the exercises with Rev. Robert Moore giving the invocation. Carol Ann Ballenger is salutatorian and Katharine Karen Kurstedt valedictorian. Vatican crowds gathered in solemn lines for the pope’s wake as mourners waited through the night. By morning the line stretched across the square and down the Via della Conciliazione, the pope’s face serene after four days of suffering. The body lies in state as Romans mourn their religious leader.
A funeral service for Pope John XXIII who died Monday will be held Friday at 5:15 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Requiem mass will be offered for the pontiff’s soul, known as a pope of unity and peace, with Father Henry Stragisher inviting all to attend.
Berryville 22 year old William Roosevelt Wines was recaptured two hours after escaping Clarke County Jail. Jailer Percey Camper said Wines, awaiting transfer to the State Penitentiary, was found near Boom Road after fleeing about three miles from the jail. The escape was the third from Clarke Jail in six months with earlier bar sawing incidents.
The Rev Dr Frank R Hamilton of the Christian Temple of the United Church of Christ in Norfolk will deliver the baccalaureate sermon to 112 Handley High School graduates and their families this Sunday at 8 p.m. Commencement exercises are set for next Wednesday for 60 girls and 53 boys.
Federal Judge Seybourn Lynne ordering Wallace and associates to refrain from physically obstructing the court ordered desegregation of the University of Alabama. The injunction does not ban the governor from campus. Wallace plans a TV appeal to discourage campus attendance as federal troops stand by at Ft. McClellan for potential trouble.
The Rev. John Howard of Emmanuel Episcopal Church Hampton Va will speak at the 98th Confederate Memorial Day observance in Stonewall Cemetery at 5 p m. Sponsored by Turner Ashby Chapter UDC Winchester Frederick County Civil War Centennial Company and Rouss Drum and Bugle Corps. Rev John Baden of Christ Episcopal Church will offer the invocation and benediction. The yearly observance began in 1866 to honor war victims.
In New Holland Pennsylvania the borough struggles with traffic signals as horse drawn buggies fail to trip the lights. A single buggy has backed up traffic for hundreds of yards prompting the council to consider alternative devices to trigger signals.
The State Pupil Placement Board planned to rule on five applications from the Clearbrook area for Black children to attend white Frederick County schools. Five children, four elementary and one high school student, face reassignments to James Wood, Stonewall Elementary, and other nearby white schools if approved.
Heavy showers pushed June rainfall to 3.30 inches at the Winchester Fruit Laboratory area, with the year-to-date totaling 15.44 inches. Temperatures ranged from 60 to 82 degrees and forecasts called for fair, warm weather with two to three degrees above normal through Monday.

Chief of Police Maj. J. Thom as Boyd announced strict enforcement of the handbill and poster restriction. Violators now face misdemeanor charges in court after complaints about street distribution and postings on public property within four feet of streets. The law, passed last August, requires owner consent for postings on property and prohibits unlawful distribution.
