State fiscal year to close with surplus in Virginia
Richmond June 4 Governor George C Peery announced that Virginia will end the current fiscal year June 30 with a cash surplus of 321273.27 and that deficits from 1934 are wiped out. Revenues for the coming year were raised by 588282.82 as part of the 1936 38 budget. The state also completed a 950000 refunding operation selling Highway certificates at 1 573 percent. The new year starts with 2766589 05 cash of which 1726806 40 is pledged to cover the 1934 deficit and 719637 05 must be carried over as general fund obligations leaving an unencumbered 321273 27 balance. Governor Peery attributed 1052450 to departmental economies.
