The fifty-seventh Confederate Memorial Day observance in Winchester will be held tomorrow at Stonewall Cemetery with a parade from Market Street to the grounds. Rev Boyd V Switzer will deliver the address after the procession, followed by salutes and Taps. In case of rain services move to City Hall Auditorium. The collection funds beautification work at Stonewall Cemetery.

Youth shoots girl in face with air rifle in Braddock Street incident
Esther Zucherman ten, daughter of Levis Zucherman of West Cork Street, was wounded in the face by a 22 caliber air rifle shot fired by Lee Garber eleven, son of ice cream maker C EB Garber. The boy fled after the act and a search is underway. Garber calls for tighter firearm sale laws to prevent such incidents involving children.

Legion Circus Opens at Fair Grounds
The American Legion Post consigned bene fit event opened last evening in the fair grounds main building. Despite the holiday and heat a sizable crowd attended the varied program with vaudeville acts at 8 45 and new bingo game drawing crowds. Merchandise valued at over 300 filled the country store and many left with sugar ham groceries. A Russian ballet dancer may join tomorrow’s program and the Virginia Syncopators provided music for children’s afternoon events.
