The Warren County Board of Supervisors narrowly approved a consolidation agreement with Front Royal to empower the chairman and mayor to petition the circuit court for a related action. The Front Royal Town Council gave unanimous approval to the pact.
Warren County Board of Supervisors unanimously approves the 1975 76 tax rate set at 2.50 per 100 real estate at 20 percent and 4 per 100 on personal property 30 percent. The board rejects full school budget hike citing prior reassessment and upcoming costs. Allocation plan includes a 5 percent teacher raise matching other county employees despite school board requests.
President Ford, returning from Europe, said alliances are strong and allies confident, urging Congress to protect the 1976 defense budget and pass a 10 year energy program. He spoke at West Point and detailed his 11,110 mile trip and meetings with 22 heads of state.
Virginia's State Department of Highways and Transportation announced a 103,662,206 dollar allocation for the 43,000 mile secondary road system for the new fiscal year starting July 1. The figure is over 8 million less than the current year due to declining road user tax revenue and inflation pressures.
