At the Standard Oil annual stockholders meeting W F Farish and four directors testified under oath that they had not received any personal compensation from the company or related German partners including I G Farbenindustrie. Four Hurt In Auto Crash Near Laurel Maryland

Four people from Berryville and Washington were injured in an automobile crash near Laurel Maryland last Wednesday. Paul L Wheeler of Berryville Shirley Lickey now in Baltimore Miss Elizabeth Hereford of Berryville and Washington Miss Helena Underwood of Washington were treated at St Agnes Emergency Hospital with Wheeler sustaining a fracture and expected to be hospitalized for some time. The accident was attributed to a tire blowout.

Honor Roll Of Men In Service Planned By JET

The Junior Board of Trade voted to sponsor a Roll of Honor naming Frederick County and Winchester residents in the armed services. The project depends on data from relatives, a Star data request will follow, and the board hopes to display the honor roll near the county courthouse. The effort may become a permanent World War II memorial after the war.

Nightly Blackouts Ordered Along Coast

Nightly blackouts across coastal New York New Jersey and Delaware were ordered by Major General Thomas A. Terry to curb shore glare that silhouets ships at sea for submarines. The rules target all windows skylights and exterior signs and assign enforcement to state and local authorities with military exemptions for army navy targets.

Lions Club Boosts War Fund Drive in Winchester

Sev enth District chairman for fief USC War Fund Campaign R. Gray Williams spoke at the Lions Club luncheon in Winchester and Frederick county. Of 63 members present, 53 donated on site while 10 pledged to contribute via Ralph G. Hengeveld before night. Herman S. Barr, club president, stated every in town member will give before the campaign ends. The club currently lists 72 active members.

Berryville Negro Plea Rejected by Governor

Governor Darden informed counsel for Samuel Legions a Berryville Negro under death sentence for attacking a white married woman that no executive action would be taken while legal appeals remain. Legions is scheduled for execution on June 12 after his Leesburg home attack conviction in Loudoun County Circuit Court.

British Air Offense Expands in New Phase Under Churchill
