Airplane Crash Fatal To Two In Maryland Field
In Cumberland Maryland William L Thomas 23 of Mt Rainier and Ned Winfield Rogers 24 of Brentwood died after a monoplane crashed while attempting a takeoff near Syedon. Rogers was killed instantly. Thomas died later at Memorial Hospital from skull fractures and other injuries as occupants of a nearby house narrowly escaped. The plane struck an electric feeder wire and nosed into a newly built frame dwelling, shaking the home and forcing the car on a foggy night due to lingering conditions.

Caroline County Becomes a Big Army Training Area This Week
Caroline county designated the A P Hill Military Reservation will host training Thursday and Friday with the 44th Division from Fort Dix and units from the 29th Division. About 700 motor vehicles and a combat team will aid an air observer squadron of about 20 000 New Jersey troops. The 116th Infantry Virginia troops move in Sunday followed by the 111th Field Artillery Norfolk. The 115th Infantry Maryland arrives next as the summer welcomes more troops to the area and the 29th Division plans to fight there in August.
