Former Local Man Survives Plane Crash

Hillary M. Brant Jr. 30, a Winchester native and former James Wood High School student, survived a crop dusting plane crash near Dentsville Maryland. He received concussion treatment and four showers to wash off sprayed tobacco. He credits quick bystander Harold Suit and Ridgeley Cooksey for freeing him from a neck strap. He was released from Physicians Memorial Hospital in La Plata.

Gown on Porch Missing Vase Still Seeks Mate

Mrs Douglas Stickley of 519 8 Braddock St reports a striped lily in a sailorine vase on her front porch vanished along with the vase. She seeks the missing mate and the plant’s return. A hole in one was made Sunday at Carpers Valley Golf Course by Carl J Clifford of Springfield Ohio. Clifford used a seven iron on the 151 yard fourth hole. Jim Eyler of Winchester accompanied him. Tomorrow should be similar to today with cooler temperatures and potential rain beyond yesterday's five day forecast.

Rabid Foxes Force Closing Of Picnic Area

A rabies outbreak among foxes led to the temporary closing of Elizabeth Furnace camping and picnic area in George Washington National Forest. School Zone Boundaries by Area in City

The city divides elementary zones into four areas for handley ninth grade and Douglas pupils. Area 1 centers on Virginia Ave and Cork Street corridor. Area 2 covers East Lane to Piccadilly Street. Area 3 includes remaining city portions not in Areas 1 2 or 4. Area 4 lies along Kent Street and Millwood Avenue to eastern and western city limits. Handley ninth graders come from Areas 1 3 and 4.
