Congress Overrides Ford Veto On Health Bill

Congress passed a 2 billion health package over President Ford’s veto by 348 to 43 in the House and 67 to 15 in the Senate. Ford warned the plan is costly and duplicative, while Turkish bases and the 1969 defense pact faced sanctions and suspension of U S military activities in Turkey pending renegotiation.

Commerce index signals growth. trade surpluses reach record highs

The Commerce Department said the leading business indicators rose 1.9 percent in June suggesting a stronger economy ahead. It reported a record second quarter trade surplus of 3.5 billion dollars and a first half 1975 surplus near 5.5 billion dollars.
