Colts reshuffle under Joe Thomas aims to rebuild after Unitas sale
In 1973 the Baltimore Colts, after trading Johnny Unitas and 15 players, reshaped the roster under General Manager Joe Thomas. The moves include shipping out veterans, evaluating trades for key positions, and leveraging two first round picks in 1974 to pursue linemen and pass rushers as the team hunts for upgrades.

Record Streak at Hagerstown Seen to End for Snellbaker
Smokey Snellbaker’s four feature wins by June 3 put him on par with Ray Dovel’s 1968 season mark at Hagerstown Raceway. Since then Snellbaker has not won, while Lynn Paxton captured two straight and reached four wins for 1973. Dovel’s nine-win record appears safe for now though Paxton and Snellbaker could threaten with a near sweep as the season nears Labor Day. Paxton moved to third in career wins at Hagerstown with 12, trailing Gram and Weld. A program of 24 supers and 24 late models is set for tomorrow starting at 6 p.m., with Teen Night and a Valvoline Nationals event planned for early August.
