Plan to insure Virginia sheep against dog losses
Virginia sheep producers may insure flocks against dog-caused losses to spur expansion, a plan proposed by Dr. J. L. Maxton and under review by United Wool Growers. The idea mirrors Tennessee’s program and would rely on an insured fund via a 35 percent assessed value and a two thirds participation to reimburse 50 percent of losses, potentially saving about 10 thousand dollars annually.
