White House intruder shootout ends with cab driver dead

A 30 year old Arlington cab driver Chester M Plummer Jr died after climbing the White House fence on Pennsylvania Avenue and brandishing a pipe at a guard. The guard fired once hitting the intruder in the chest. Plummer's motive remains undetermined.

Winchester man charged in fatal Saturday shooting

Lloyd Winston Robertson of Kent Street faces murder charges after Vernod Roscoe Dorsey 34 was fatally shot Saturday afternoon during an argument. Dorsey, a truck driver from Knoxville Maryland, died at Winchester Memorial Hospital. Robertson, 25, is jailed on $1,000 bond awaiting a preliminary hearing August 3 in General District Court.

Snarr Named Substitute Judge for 26th Judicial District

George G. Snarr Jr., local attorney and partner at Massie and Snarr, was appointed substitute judge for the Frederick and Winchester General District Courts and the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court in the 26th Judicial District. The appointment, by Chief Circuit Court Judge Joshua L. Robinson, takes effect July 1, with Judge Rice retiring as Winchester substitute the same day.
