Fire on Cather Property Causes 20000 Dollar Loss
The Cather farm two miles north of Winchester on the Martinsburg Pike suffered a 20000 dollar blaze at dawn that destroyed a barn packing house and equipment shed with contents including six tons of hay a ton of fertilizer and orchard tools. Tenant Jess Peacemaker found smoke from the hayloft. Fire fighters saved the adjacent machine shop and tenant house while scorch damage reached shade trees. Cather plans to rebuild and secure new equipment to resume farming.
