The body of Miss Mary Alice Summers died in Pittsburgh was brought to Winchester on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church near Fawcetts Gap with Rev. W. Cassell officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. She was aunt to Charles D. Summers of the Union Bank of Winchester and sister of the late John L. Summers. She had lived with Julius Auden family and was 65. She leaves brothers C. S. Summers of Cleveland and Will Summers of Pittsburgh and a brother Summers of Peters. Her father, a Lutheran minister, was well known across the Shenandoah Valley.
Charles E. Edmondson of Middletown dies after his brother George Edmondson’s funeral in Danville Pa following an appendicitis operation in Philadelphia. He built a vast life insurance career with Mutual Life and Philadelphia Life, leaving a widow three children and an estate considered the region’s largest.
