Two men employed by the county lime works died under unclear circumstances at Sincluse where Ollie Contier is reported as having died here. Local authorities investigate possible cause and status of the workers.
The Shenandoah Valley Inc. sets August 4 to 11 as Home Coming Week inviting thirteen counties to join former residents in returning for reunions. Fifty thousand invitations go to county directors. citizens are urged to secure invites and decorate towns while each county prepares a locally announced celebration day.
Henry Funk 27 a quarryman at Conner Lime Works near Cedar Creek dies after being struck by a southbound Baltimore and Ohio train. Ollie Conner the Vaucluse plant superintendent dies from acute indigestion after bananas and a hearty meal at Winchester. Both deaths occurred within hours of each other on Saturday and Sunday. Funeral for Conner scheduled Tuesday at Refuge with burial beside the church cemetery.

James Owen Barr, a popular youth in town, died at Memorial Hospital shortly before five o clock yesterday after an abdominal operation for bowel obstruction. He was nearly 19, a Handley student and Garber Manufacturing employee, and leaves a mother Mrs. E Grace Hollis stepfather Clayton Hollis two sisters three half siblings and several friends. Funeral is Wednesday at 3 PM from 122 West Monmouth Street with burial in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Fritz Haarmann the German killer known as the vampire is charged in an indictment with 17 murders. Police expect guilt proven in at least eight other cases and trace many disappearances to his Hanover home. Eight police officials were dismissed amid allegations of involvement. He claims he was unconscious during the killings and typically strangled victims as they slept.
Argentine heavyweight Luis Firpo and two companions were detained on arrival from Argentina aboard the American Legion due to passports not properly vised. The party including a stenographer Blanca Andres was sent to Ellis Island for clearance.

Agnes Carlin Parker widow of McKim Parker died from uremic poisoning shortly before four o clock Saturday at her North Braddock street home after a five day illness. Surrounded by relatives, she had shown frail health seven years and is survived by Frances Parker, three sisters, three brothers, and other relatives. The funeral will be at five this afternoon from her sister Mrs J Clinton Smith residence with Rev A A Kelly of Grace Lutheran Church officiating and interment at Mount Hebron Cemetery beside her husband.

The Star installed a new Linotype machine this morning. Mr Griffin of the Mergenthaler Linotype Company oversaw the installation. The No 14 model sells for over $4 000 and features three large magazines plus an auxiliary one operated from a single keyboard. It will mainly speed up setting advertisements.
TOKIO July 21 reports reach here that fifty seven crew members died when the Matsuyama Maru foundered off Goto Island on July 11. The older freighter carried no passengers.

He sustained a knee wound, received immediate medical care, and is not seriously hurt. he is expected to resume company duties tomorrow.
Sergeant Breckenridge, son of Mr and Mrs William Bel ridge, resides at 117 South ceived no telegram. his mother feared his injury might be serious but was assured the wound is only a slight flesh wound. He is a popular member of headquarters company and well known in Winchester athletics.
In Westminster Hall England greeted nearly three thousand American and Canadian lawyers. Secretary of State Hughes said they came with no political aim, only to foster understanding and goodwill. The ceremony featured robed legal dignitaries and an enthusiastic reception.
