In Kentucky and Virginia a 17 year old mountaineer Green Allen Brooks is hunted after he killed two Lee County deputies Arch Redmana and Robert Bailey who were attempting to arrest his son in law Luther Poore for embezzlement. Brooks fired at the deputies, who died at the scene. Sheriff R F Giles organized the pursuit with sixty to seventy deputies and bloodhounds used in the eastern Kentucky mountains.

Two Guilty Of Soliciting Aid In Alleged Plot
Henry Marple of this city and Charles Clingempeel of Baltimore were sentenced to six months in jail after a hearing before Judge Donald J. Weems. The case followed a previous trial where all three were found guilty and given six months. The Clingempeel brothers gave notice of appeals. later officials said charges against them were nolled since no overt act occurred. Marple and Clingempeel were arraigned on the stated charges. Cecil faced no charges. Harry R. Kern Jr. defended. City Solicitor Reardon prosecuted. A new finding suggested an overt act might exist, but no action this morning. Ehlers of Baltimore was fined $100 and 30 days for drunken driving. Sergeant Lynn and Funk arrested him on South Market Street. Conrad was fined $10.25 and 10 days for drunk and bad check violations.

Stone Rock Crashes Through Roof in Shanholtz Home
A rock weighing 15 to 20 pounds from Stuart M. Perry quarries smashed through the roof of Morris Shanholtz residence at 245 Parkway yesterday afternoon. The stone shattered timber, pierced ceilings, and left a heavy floor indentation but caused no injuries. A second larger rock also fell near Mrs. Murphy’s shed. Richmond, July 19 The state health department warned again to keep children out of crowds as infantile paralysis cases in Virginia since June 1 climbed to 165. Seven new cases were reported today: Buckingham county for the first time in the present outbreak, plus one each from Cumberland and Russell counties and the city of Petersburg, with a total of seven cases since the month began. Dr I C Riggin state health commissioner cautioned that while south central reports are lower, additional cases may appear as the disease spreads across the state.
