Virginia delegates at the Democratic national convention shift to backing Jimmy Carter for the November race. The shift follows a 48 to six Carter edge after late changes, with key figures like Joseph T. Fitzpatrick and Andrew Miller steering strategy amid intra party tensions.
Frederick County Supervisors tabled two funding requests last night. The elderly aid proposal sought 385 dollars to match federal funds for a meal program and a senior center, while a separate 1,000 dollar request for a blind readers program was also tabled for later consideration.
President Ford and family marked his 63rd birthday with a White House lunch at Sans Souci. He congratulated Democrat Jimmy Carter on winning the nomination by phone, saying they can offer the nation a high level campaign and a clear choice.
