Elevator Tragedy At Winchester Cold Storage Injures Teen
Charles Messick 13 of 719 South Loudoun Street was badly hurt when caught in an elevator shaft at Winchester Cold Storage around 10:30 this morning. Rescue crews used torches to free him after the lift dragged him six stories, his legs trapped between the floor and shaft wall. He was conscious during the rescue, later fainting when freed, and was taken to Memorial Hospital as doctors assess his injuries. Companions Eugene Dyke and Gene Largent were present on the platform. the cause remains under investigation.
