A Frederick County woman Myr tle Luttrell and six relatives were in a car that ran off Rt 51 near Inwood. Bonnie Luttrell, 7, died at Martinsburg City Hospital from head injuries. Other survivors suffered cuts and broken bones as the vehicle rolled and struck rocks and a pole. The Luttrell family was returning from Middleway.
Three people were injured in a two vehicle collision on U S Rt 50 East about four miles east of Waterloo. State Police investigated the accident. Treated and released at the local hospital were Mr and Mrs Williams of Kansas City Kansas and Inez Mesker of Hutchins Kansas. Further details were not immediately available.
A reader recalls sending a coupon for a booklet to a New York firm but cannot remember the requested circular. Harrison says Valley voters will not be swayed by Robinson’s late acceptance and his anti Kennedy stance. He touts Byrd Smith and Marsh as proven protectors of liberties against radical government. Marsh won the Democratic nomination after a June 30 convention.
Three early morning crashes on Virginia roads killed four people and raised the 1962 traffic fatality total to 432. Kenneth Hilliard Jr and Elwood Sandidge, both of Buena Vista, died when their speeding car left the road and struck two trees near Lexington. Thomas Hilliard, 21, also Buena Vista, was critically hurt. James Dalton, 23, of Draper, died when his sports car overturned on the Warrenton bypass while fleeing a police pursuit. a passenger was injured.
An American captain and at least 23 Vietnamese soldiers died when a government convoy 40 miles north of Saigon was ambushed by Viet Cong forces. The attack lasted minutes. relief paratroopers arrived an hour later.
Billie Sol Estes, 37, once a fertilizer tanks and cotton allotments magnate, was declared bankrupt by Federal District Judge R Ew ing Thomason after failed plans to operate assets under receivership. Four men, including Estes associates McSpadden Orr and Alexander, pleaded guilty to fraud counts while facing possible fines and prison. The case fuels a broader Senate investigation led by Senator McClellan as receivership reflects liabilities and questioned dealings over cotton allotments and government loans.
New Delhi reports Chinese forces lifted the siege in Galwan Valley Ladakh retreating to about 200 yards from the Indian post. An Indian 40 man garrison faced a 15 to 1 Chinese force, with orders to fire in self defense if necessary. Reinforcements were sent and Nehru cautioned against a major clash.

Winchester School Board counsel J Randolph Larrick declined to release the transfer plan. The plan, submitted by mail, will be discussed with U.S. District Judge Thomas J Michie in Harrisonburg next Tuesday. Judge Michie ordered a plan for handling transfer requests after ordering admission of Negro students to Handley High. The board has not decided whether to appeal the integration ruling.

President Kennedy appointed Anthony J. Celebrezze, Cleveland mayor since 1953, as the new secretary of health education and welfare. Celebrezze, 51, will serve after Senate confirmation and succeeds Abra ham Ribicoff who resigned to run for the Senate from Connecticut.
