Norfolk police report two officers killed when answering a break in at West's Pharmacy on Granby Street. The gunmen fled. no witnesses identified. Both officers' revolvers and all cartridges were found discharged at the scene.
Blood drive in Winchester with Frederick County aims to collect 400 pints for plasma. The mobile unit arrives Thursday night and volunteers are urged to donate at the clinic headquarters 17 North Lou doun street open daily 9 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.Appointments between 8:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. Call 6502 to arrange.
London July 13 A source with contacts in Europe claims Hitler ordered a renewed offensive at Kursk before a July 5 German attack led by Marshal Von Kluge. The informant says Hitler took control three days after start, using about 30 divisions including 15 armored units, while pulling troops from Von Manstein’s southern forces.
A heavy shower, described as a “million dollar” rain, drenched Frederick area farms with .90 inch in Winchester and 1.16 inches for the month. Despite some spots like Gore and Whitacre showing limited help, crops suffered in parts. Middletown reports a tremendous rain with wind breaking limbs and lodging corn, as Berryville also notes rainfall during the storm.
