High Tension Line Tragedy Claims Father and Two Children
A father and his two children died after a car struck a pole carrying high tension lines on Route 522 near Potter’s Hill. Harry Meister age 52, his son Harry Jr. age 8, and daughter Barbara Ann age 4 perished as live wires stretched across the road. Wilmer H. Stine attempted to warn them but was unable to save them. The crash occurred about 6 50 p m as the car skidded down a 10 foot embankment into the wire laden area. The scene was witnessed from nearby by Stine who reported the car remained upright and only partially overturned as the tragedy unfolded.
