France's National Assembly approved Tunisian self government by stages in a 540 to 43 vote. Premier Faure warned refusal would boost distrust of French motives in the Arab world and beyond.
Frederick and Clarke Counties vote in the Democratic Primary with one contest per county. In Frederick, Commonwealth's Attorney Joseph A Massie Jr faces John F Anderson. Clarke County's sole race is for commissioner of revenue with incumbent David H Allen opposed by George W Costello. Polls run 6 30 am to 7 30 pm.
Rouss Fire Company approves tearing down the barber shop at 115 W Boscawen St and the Burner building at 117-119 W Boscawen St. A two story office building to be rented, completion targeted for January, with work on 105-107 W Boscawen St rear structure to be torn down within 30 days. About 100 members attended, new members James Snapp J Fred Larrick and Robert Heltzel welcomed.
Lora Lee Ritenour and Louis Emery Teller, both in custody in Detroit, face armed robbery charges after a January Cleveland bank heist netting 23000. They are suspected in a June jewelry store theft and are being held on combined bonds of 100000. Federal agents raided their apartment, using tear gas after a tense standoff.
