Washington Pupils Evaluate German History Textbooks
A two year study by Ball State Teachers College professors found U S and German textbooks often misrepresent history. The report cited 1948 to 1952 publications and noted German books increasingly acknowledge responsibility for World War II and the Nazi regime. It called for U S history to highlight German resistance to Hitler and the existence of another Germany beyond the Nazi narrative.
