R. L. Bell of Norfolk won the state singles championship as 105 shooters from Virginia and nearby states competed in the Virginia Trapshooting Association meet at Rouss Park. A tie with L. E. Lowry and others led to multiple shoot-offs, while Dr. L. G. Richards claimed all round Virginia honors and P. G. Fletcher won the doubles title. The convention voted to meet next year at Virginia Beach with the Cavalier Club hosting and Winchester Gun Club bidding for a return event.

The Majestic Athletic Club of Washington defeated Winchester Park Association 9 to 4 before about 2,000 spectators. Hirth and Hockman led Park Nine with strong pitching and nine strikeouts, but errors and late runs by the Majestics sealed the win. The Park Association plans a children's merry-go round this week as heat drives families to the wading pool.

Palmer Jackson a 31 year old colored resident of Berryville died in Winchester Memorial Hospital from a knife slash sustained during a card game on June 28 near Berryville. Franklyn McIntyre eight year old son of Mr and Mrs Hammond L McIntyre of The Plains Fauquier county died last evening at 645 in Winchester Memorial Hospital from complications. He was brought to the hospital Saturday but did not respond to treatment. The remains were taken today to his parents home at The Plains where funeral rites will be held at an unknown time this afternoon.
