In Birmingham Alabama two banks in the banking district shut down today after heavy withdrawals tied to the closing of other institutions. The Woodland Savings Bank reported funds unavailable and turned affairs over to its banking department. The South Side Bank said it would reopen Monday morning as withdrawals continued after Woodland’s closure. Previous closings included City Bank and Trust Company and Ravendale Bank and Savings Company. City Bank is undergoing reorganization with a planned reopening next week.
