Electric Use Dips Weekend. Blackout Not Factor
Potomac Edison reports lower loads over the holiday due to weather and not the blackout promoted by the Ratepayers Association. Spokesman Don Whipp said no system-wide impact from the blackout was detected. Association president Donna Yowell estimates about 25 percent of local residential customers participated in the 8 to 8:30 p.m. blackout from Saturday through Tuesday in protest of a 2.9 million rate hike approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
