J Emmett Dettra, former Winchester resident and new pastor in Wilmington Delaware, reports in a letter that a P-80 Shooting Star flew over his home so fast that by the time he heard it the jet was out of sight. He says the flight advertised a July 4 celebration in Philadelphia and covered Philadelphia to Wilmington in three minutes ten seconds versus trains taking 45 minutes.
